Georgetown
is one of the most vibrant and dynamic spots in Washington D.C. Not only do
I maintain this impression due to being the first place I explored
outside the area that I live in, but also because its glamour takes the
Washingtonians themselves by storm. Being newcomers to Washington D.C., my
roommate and I went to buy the stuff necessary to our apartment
earlier the last fall. We picked and chose the Georgetown neighborhood which is
reputed to be a great commercial place that is pretty expensive, yet of
a good quality. Besides it is in the vicinity of our place 7 minutes
driving, and circa 25 minutes by public transportation.
The
Georgetown neighborhood is geographically situated along the Potomac River on
the south and Glover Park on the north. The Georgetown university circumscribes
the western end of it, and the Rock Creek to the east. Georgetown is endowed
with many places of parkland and green space that provide recreation for its
dwellers and safeguard it against the exhausts emitted by industrial factories
in the adjacent neighborhoods. On my visit to the Georgetown area, I decided to
explore the area by myself. It seemed to me that the buildings still
get its splendid look even though they were established many years ago.
Georgetown's design is peculiar to the historical attractions, pretty
residential streets, shopping, and dining. Georgetown enjoys many sightseeing
spots that make tourists revel in wandering around them over and
over. Lots of art galleries and wonderful variety of museums which
are easy to miss. The primary commercial corridors of Georgetown are M Street
and Wisconsin Avenue, whose high fashion stores draw large numbers of tourists
as well as local shoppers year-round. There is also the Washington Harbor
complex on K Street, on the waterfront, aligned with outdoor bars and
restaurants popular for viewing boat races.
It
is easy to discern that Georgetown one of the largest conurbations in
Washington. It is a destination to many visitors contributing to mirroring it
as a widely diverse area in the heart of the nation's capitol. People visit it
as tourists, visitors, shoppers, hikers. On the other hand, Georgetown is an
abode of some diplomatic representations of France, Mongolia, Sweden, Thailand,
and Ukraine, which means a considerable number of diplomats and their families
reside there.
When
it comes to put Georgetown in comparison with an Egyptian community, there are
litanies of communities akin to the Georgetown's nature. Khan
Al-Khalili is one of the most famous commercial sites in Cairo, the
nation's capital of Egypt. As it is said, if you go to Egypt without passing by
Khan Al-Khalil to buy antiques and pharaohic statutes in miniature, it will be
tantamount to be missing a great deal. Khan Al-Khalili is vibrant
and dynamic neighborhood in Cairo, constantly full of hustle and bustle. Its
buildings are very ancient and beautiful. Its people are diverse coming from
around Egypt and the globe. Many offers and deals due to the fraternal
competition among the shops there. But Feel free to bargain J .
People like it there; and it will always spawn very friendly conversations and
render both parties happy. In addition to shops, there are several
coffeehouses, restaurants, and street food vendors distributed throughout the
market. Khan Al-Khalili is bounded by lots of sites traced back to the heydays
of the Islamic era scented with an odor of greatness and glamour.
